Emergency Procedures for Roundup

  1. Inhalation (Breathing in Fumes)

    • Move the affected person to an area with fresh air
    • If the person has difficulty breathing, seek immediate medical attention
    • If safe to do so, remove contaminated clothing and wash the affected skin
  2. Eye Contact

    • Rinse the eyes immediately with plenty of clean water for at least 15 minutes. Hold the eyelids open during rinsing.
    • Seek medical attention if irritation or redness persists
  3. Skin Contact

    • Remove contaminated clothing and shoes
    • Wash the affected skin with soap and water for at least 15 minutes
    • Seek medical attention if skin irritation, redness, or a rash develops
  4. Ingestion (Swallowing)

    • Do not induce vomiting unless directed by a medical professional
    • Rinse the mouth and provide the person with water or milk if they are conscious
    • Seek immediate medical attention
  5. Spills

    • In case of a spill, prevent the herbicide from spreading. Use absorbent materials, such as cat litter or sand, to contain and soak up the spill.
    • Wear appropriate PPE, including gloves and eye protection, when cleaning up the spill
    • Place the contaminated materials in a labeled, sealed container for proper disposal
